Abdominoplasty – Tummy Tuck – Informational Video – Michael Bogdan – Dallas Texas

www.drmichaelbogdan.com This informational video on tummy tucks was created by Dallas Plastic Surgeon, Michael A. Bogdan, MD, FACS. The video morphs before and after pictures of tummy tuck patients, and explains how the operation changes the body contour. I created the video after reading many repetitive questions posted on internet forums by patients considering an abdominoplasty, who were uncertain if they were a candidate for the procedure. If you wish further information on tummy tucks, please visit my website.

  1. OMG i need this done to my STOMACH!!!!

  2. Dear elcobbo,
The price varies on location, surgeon, and your body habitus (which may require different versions of the operation). The average “total cost” in the US is around $9000 (check the website “realself” for regional snapshots.)

  3. Could you tell me what a price range would be for this procedure? I am assuming that the cost varies by state. I am currently living in Iowa.

    Dear ShEBaDD,
I would love it if I could achieve these results without scars– but that is not possible. Tightening of the abdominal skin to the extent shown requires skin removal, and that necessitates a scar. In most of the patients in the video, the scar is behind the photo panties, and thus can be concealed in regular underwear or swimwear. (They all have scars around the belly buttons.) Regards, Dr.B

  5. What About The Scars?

  6. Yes, but you compromise the results: 1) You can leave the belly button in the same position and only remove / tighten skin below – this gives a marginal result, 2) “float” the belly button down to a slightly lower location – this allows for a bit more tightening, 3) a formal tummy tuck with “new” belly button – allows for the most tightening of the abdominal skin. Discuss these options with your surgeon during your consultation. Best wishes, Dr. B

  7. Can you have a tummy tuck but not touch the belly button? I am considering a tummy tuck (Gave birth last year) but don’t want a new belly button. I want to keep mine the way it is. I know it sounds funny saying it but it’s true, lol

  8. Dear Kimaam,
    Dear Kimaam,
Almost all scars located under the belly button can be made to disappear – when you watch the video, note that the belly button was located at the top of the midline scar, and the whole scar was removed. The belly button is reshaped, as a new one is created. I have a good pain management regime, such that almost all patients say the tummy tuck hurts less than a c-section. (One actually said she has had menstrual cramps that were worse!)

  9. Wow those are very amazing results! I was wondering if I have a scar under my belly button of an umbilical hernia surgery and I need a tummy tuck, will the tummy tuck remove that scar right under my belly button? Also will it fix my belly button because my Dr. left it a little deformed after that hernia surgery:( My abdominal muscles are very weak too but i’m scared to get a tummy tuck, it must be painful, I wonder if it hurts alot more than a c-section.

  10. Dear Love,
Please have a look at my website under Cosmetic Surgery – I have a Tummy Tuck FAQ page that answers that question in detail.

  11. how long will take to recover after the sugery ???

  12. Dear ProverbsGal23,
Sorry, I accidentally deleted your question: will a tummy tuck help stretch marks on your obliques? The easiest way to judge the change you could receive is to look at the red highlighted regions of the videos and compare them with yourself. If the stretch mark lies outside of the red zone, it will stay, but move lower. An extended abdominoplasty will help more on the flanks, but most stretch marks to be removed will happen along a horizontal line below your umbilicus.

  13. Thank you so much for writting back and giving ne that data on anesthesia!

  14. The risk of anesthesia death is very low – 0.0004% and even lower if you are healthy! (Google asa 25-fold)
You are more likely to get struck by lightening (Lifetime risk 0.02% – Google national weather 1/5000). However, just as you need to know the qualifications of your surgeon, you should know the qualifications of your anesthesiologist. I use a select group of anesthesiologists, and they would be happy to speak with you to help alleviate your fears.

  15. How do you know if ypu can handle anesthesia?
i’m a healthy 35 year old 125 pounds, but i’m scared to death of going under!

  16. No. A standard tummy tuck does add some tension to the upper anterior thigh, so it helps with skin contour in this region. An extended tummy tuck helps the lateral thigh as well. The medial (inner) thigh requires a medial thigh lift operation.

  17. does a tummy tuck help your inner thighs at all?
